Yes, finding parts is difficult. Making gears is possible but very problematic. High failure rates. Will you have the car in Saint Louis?
Jim,
Will you post the car’s S/N so we can look up its ownership history?
Thanks,
Peter
I have an early car at a restoration shop. The owner caters to’30’s
Packard restorations. I asked him for a ball park cost of restoring
a V12 Packard engine. He came up with $50,000 to $60,000. I think
a ’35 Packard V12 Sedan restored can be obtained for $65,000 or
near about . If you bought that car and annihilated the engine you
could parts it out or use it for yard art. Rebuilding the engine
could only be justified if you were born in it. What’s the going rate
for rebuilding a Pierce V12?
Pierce V-12’s are a lot easier than Packard and would be less by a fair margin. Packards are also comparably overpriced in the market which drives up the ability of restorers to pile on the expense.

Ed- I would like o bring it to St. Louis this year. The challenge is getting an enclosed trailer in time.
Peter- 1050728 is the S/N.
