    Dennis,

Welcome to the Pierce Arrow Society!

A 1931 Model 43 is the only year and model that used gears (no timing chain).

As such, I don’t know if a new gear is available. If a new gear is available, I would be interested in a spare for my car. You can check with John Cislak for a good used gear. John is lists in the website roster

All Pierce-Arrows up to 1928 except Series 80 and Series 81 used timing gears and no chain.

    Paul,

Thank you for the clarification. I should have said I believe that a 1931 Model 43 is the only eight cylinder Pierce that didn’t use a chain.

Hello Dennis, I might have one of those gears. You said your engine is apart, is the crankshaft gear that meshes with the cam gear off the crankshaft? or is the crankshaft out of the crankcase?

The reason I ask, is if you can bring the gear or crank with gear, about an hour north to my place in Holly Michigan, we can go through some of the gears I have here and hopefully find one that will work in your engine.

You can find me in the roster, or email me at : [email protected]

I looked for a cam gear, and this is the only one I found.

It is 7-11/16″ diameter, and has 54 teeth.

Your crank gear should be 1/2 the size and 1/2 the number of teeth.

Maybe this will work? All my cam sprockets for a timing chain have 4 bolts, not 5. So this might not even be for a Pierce Arrow.
