Does anyone on here know what the non-fender mounted
headlights look like on a 1916 38?
My car has drum lights that may be of a later manufacture.
I have seen photos of 1916-1917 cars with various different
lights.
Thanks so much.

The original bracket headlamps for the Series 3 through the Series 31-51 Pierce Arrows that were fitted by the factory for cars so specified were a bell shaped lamp using a lamp door identical to that on the fender mounted lamps. The Pierce Arrow books show photos of the cars with these lamps. The drum lamps on your C-4 are the style used on the Series 32-33 cars of 1921 to about 1925 and I would suspect fitted by the dealer in the 1920’s to update the car.Since these were fitted years ago, they are part of the history of the car.As for finding a pair of the bell shaped lamps, one of the Pierce Arrow collectors might have a pair. The ones from a 1919-1920 Series 31-51 will have a double bulb reflector where the earlier ones will
have a single bulb reflector.
