Pierce-Arrow parade float 1910

View of Pierce-Arrow float by H. Paulman and Company in 1910 Chicago floral parade. Large floral arrow printed with “Pierce” is atop simulated rock. Four women in driving clothes sit at each corner holding steering wheels attached to large arrows. “H. Paulman & Co.” on side of rock. Handwritten on back: “Parades–Chicago floral parade, 1910.”

AAANNNDDD here is the dealership on Michigan Avenue built in 1910.

Great parade float, and the picture of the dealership sure makes you wonder where the emblem in the top front of the building went, it appears to have been removed very carefully and replaced with newer brick….

Who is that guy blocking the front door at the auction house?

That looks like a familiar car in front of the dealership. Did a little history on Paulman, he died not long after turning his dealership over to Pierce Arrow as a company owned dealership. He’s buried in Oakwoods Cemetery on Chicago’s South Side. His wife got into trouble about 1912 after hitting a pedestrian with an electric auto (I’m sure a Pierce would have had better brakes) and I believe his son was a long time executive of an automotive association.
