I have had my PA down for a long time. Rebuilt; starter, generator, water pump, oil cooler and added a modern oil filter using a kit from Bob Sands which uses the old filter housing. Because of the long period since it ran, I would like to pressurize the lubrication system with an external pressure vessel filled with oil. What is the best port to use to do this? Will it oil the crank shaft assembly and piston rings?

Thank you in advance for your help,

You could use an external oil pot, I have used them in the past, but with an engine that has already been run, I would just pull the plugs and crank the engine till it builds pressure, and do it two or three times, then I would install the plugs and fire it off. It should be fine. Ed

PS, a oil change with lighter oil would be ok also, BEFORE you start it.
