The Southern California Region of the Pierce-Arrow Society completed an overnight tour this past weekend. Other clubs that were invited included members from the Packard Club and Cadillac LaSalle Club. A total of 8 pre-war cars and 2 modern cars drove the 60 mile, one-way tour over the mountain and across the desert.

A great time was had by all including a lunch stop in the mountain community of Santa Ysabel, CA and a group dinner at the Borrego Springs Resort. The evening was enjoyed with friends on the patio in the cool weather next to the golf course.

Borrego Springs sits at 600 ft above sea level with a population of approx 3,500 residents. “More than 100 sculptures, the work of artist Ricardo Breceda, are spread across private parcels of land, known as Galleta Meadows, in the Borrego Valley. The art features creatures that once lived here, creatures that still do, and some that were created entirely in the imagination of the artist.”

Pictures of the event are below.

After the Temecula Meet in 2009, I rented a convertible and went off with my companion to Borrego Ranch Resort and Spa for a few days.

It was mid-June, and HOLY MOLEY was it HOT!

We had to take care in getting in and out of the pool because the stainless steel hand rails were literally broiling.

    OUCH!

There were not many guests at that time, but it was quite wonderful.

They served us champagne upon arrival and had a quite spectacular restaurant.

It is a magical destination and I am sure that you had a wonderful, albeit warm tour.

The 1248 looks to be sporting a set of yellowed ‘RJ’ plastic lenses. The P-A Foundation may still have some of the clear non-yellowing reproductions available.

We thoroughly enjoyed the overnighter to Borrego Springs. The camaraderie was great and the vistas were spectacular – nature at its best. Wendell did an excellent job with the tour; the ‘girls’ did a fantastic job of follow-through.
