I am glad you have found what seems to be a very nice car.  Can you tell us its history?

in reply to: 2026 PAS meet in Buffalo #480848

With all due respect:  may I apologize for my use of the word “ass”.  I had a point to make, and I made it, and my position stands.  As for the 2000 meet, you  may have expressed some notion of need for  its occurrence:   however, Freddy Tycher was the larger than life impetus needed to create the extravaganza that resulted.  Jimmy Sandoro, with all his influence in Buffalo, was the frosting on this ten layer cake of the most impressive auto show that I, as a humble third party co-chair helped effect.  I meant no caustic everlasting cast to your behaviour, but quite frankly, get involved or leave the hardworkers alone

Brooks, I am quite tired of your non productive pontificating.  You want to see a meet, get off your ass and volunteer your time

As one of the co-chair of the 100th anniversary meet, I cannot begin to explain the amount of work that went into that meet.  With Jim Sandoro just having had bypass surgery, we cannot expect anything but advice and assistance from him.  Similarly, I am away from that area now, and too old to become involved.  One suggestion might be to skip  a year , regroup and see if someone else can do the job the following year, or skip the notion altogether and proceed to areas where an effective group can run a meet.

in reply to: 1936 Pierce Arrow Deluxe Eight Convertible Sedan #480826

No, this is a real car.  It belonged to Ted Fosgate when I first joined the PAS.  It had been through a number of owners before John Steckbeck really ironed out all the mechanical issues.   The fake ones have the rear doors hinged like a sedan, both door handles are together in the middle.  My car is body number 6,, I forgot the number of Bob’s car

This was Bob Sands car also.  He had over $300,000 in the car and restoration.  It is an incredibly well done car, typifying Bob’s love of town cars

Those cars are from Bob Sands’ estate.  Any info call me 585 739 2917

in reply to: Parts at Hersehey #479818

For the first time in 58 years, I am unable to attend Hershey.  A close family member has been diagnosed with a life threatening medical condition.  If you think I may have a part you could use, call me: 585 739 2917, or email me [email protected].  I do have a lot of stuff, I welcome any call.

First of all, after going to Hershey for 58 years, you would think I could spell Hershey properly.   Second of all, I could also leave my phone number: 585 739 2917

ConRel in the Albany/Schenectady area repaired my generator (1936).  They even had new regulator/cutouts in stock (same as on some tractors).  This is a big shop, and the people are nice: 518 356 1646

in reply to: Passing of a Pierce Arrow Legend. #479612

As I told Ed Minnie, Bob passed on Tuesday evening  from hospice, at the Erie County Medical Center.  The wake will be at Lombardo Funeral Home, on Abbot Road, next Thursday night.  The service will be the next morning at 10am, at the funeral home.  (South Buffalo).  Bob and I have been friends for over 50 years.  We have spent hours talking Pierce Arrow, truly he was one of the most Pierce “centered” people I have ever known.

in reply to: Distributor cap wanted for 1929 model 133 #479438

14 years ago, I replaced the points in my ’36 Pierce, my ’47 Cadillac, and my ’58 Cadillac with Pertonix electronic ignition.  All my hitchhiking in from closed points, burnt points, etc. ended.  My cars start quicker, run better, etc.  Some expressed the horrors of non originality.  I am not a “wrench” and do not aspire to be one.  Problem solved.  Give them the distributor number, and they will build you a unit

in reply to: OPTIMA 6V Red-Top Battery Sale #479357

Yes Peter, thank you.  My newest Optima is probably 15 years old, and still working.  I sprung for one new one, and the process went very smoothly.

    David, where are you located?

in reply to: ’33 Pierce at Barrett Jackson auction #479079

I think the interior is very distinctive.  My biggest fear, is at this type of auction, this car goes real cheap, and drives down our values even more.  If I had a garage space, I think I would be interested .  The fact that Pat Craig did the restoration and did not retain the car confuses me.

I had used them for years.  Nice work, slow delivery

in reply to: Lester tire imbalance #477473

I had Lester tires installed new on my ’36 probably 25 years ago.  They could NEVER be balanced properly.  After installing BF Goodrich 750’s 15 years ago, I discovered they needed NO balancing at all.  Others have had this problem.  I felt bad at the time, Tom Lester was a brilliant collector and a good friend of mine.  Moreover, the rigidity of the tires seemed to be flimsier than  other makes I have used.

in reply to: radio antenna #477330

David, check with some old timer from the CCCA.  Somebody was making those twenty or so years ago, I bought one and never used it, probably sold it at Hershey.  Someone should remember who made them, or advertise CCCA bulletin to see if any are left kicking around

Forgive me for pretending to know anything about things like this.  However, I am aware that Eric Rosenau when he was alive, and perhaps Billy Sandvik now, along with John Ciselak use a production rod (Oldsmobile straight 8 I thought, whatever), on the 8 cylinder Pierce Cars.  My 1931 had inserts installed in the 60’s.  When I had the caps pulled in the 80’s, they were perfectly at spec.  Ask Billy and John C. their opinion on this subject.
