The Model T forum has an option to mark a discussion OT (off topic) so that just about any other car can be discussed….
Cord engine being reunited is dependent on price, I just don’t want to put a lot of money just for an engine to be sitting there, even though I love the idea of keeping history together.
Hey, we could also do a “fund me” function for Pierce guys, to help the needy (me needy) pay for such things!
Actually, I’m considerably teasing about that, I never have liked some of the fund me activity that goes on, if you can’t afford something, then asking them on line to help pay for it is just fancy street corner begging….
For some reason, there seem to be a LOT of Pierce items out there. There are better collections than mine out there, but I’m happy to have found some goodies!
And, having great friends helps, too!
I wouldn’t have my PA wagon, unless Richard Leroy found it, and James Powell picked it up and delivered it.
I wouldn’t have my Pierce icebox, had it not been for Stu Blair picking it up and Greg Long delivering it to Hershey!
I have a Pierce “Mechanical Club” pin, which I’m told is much rarer than the 25 year pin. A friend of mine was at a small auction, and saw it sell in a box of other stuff. He went to the buyer and offered him a dollar for the pin, bought it, and gave it to me!
Another friend found a large 1920 Safety book, which used Pierce Arrows in New York City, in some great pictures throughout the book, to demonstrate how to safely drive!
I feel very fortunate to have great friends! Many thanks to all….
Alan, thanks for interest! I realize this is off topic for a Pierce forum…. I’m waiting to hear a price, to make a decision….if he has a numbered engine, easy enough to verify if it came in my car from the factory, as the body tag (see picture) shows engine number.

Craig, that’s a good idea, I have 20 or 30 items that I just looked at that are directly related to the factory, including factory rules, ticket for plant tour, WWI war efforts, 25 year and mechanical club pins, and so forth. I’ll get them together and submit an article for future publication.
Thanks! David C.

With all the discussion about headlight bulbs, here’s a fun item in my collection. Just a box of light bulbs, no big deal, until you read the fine print!
One of my favorite non-Pierce Pierce Arrow items, a 1910 Converse Pierce touring car….all metal, not perfect by any means but these are difficult to find in any condition, very large toy…..

I’d be glad to share in whatever manner is deemed appropriate.
To me, there are different areas of Pierce memorabilia:
-the pre- bicycle Geo. N. Pierce items (ice box, bird cage feeders, bird cage)
– bicycles and related items, Buffalo made
-factory items or literature
-dealer items (give-always, advertising, literature)
-Duplex oil cans, made for Pierce Arrow use
-companies that promoted Pierce Arrow vehicles in their advertising or give-always
-items that have the Pierce Arrow name, but not directly made by Pierce (wagons, pedal cars, Converse 1910 toy car, etc.)
Bob, thanks for clarification on the original red and the “newer” reproduction….I’d like to get one of those repro, too.
If anyone runs across an extra original red, I’d be a buyer, or possibly trade something I have a duplicate of…
It’s funny with Pierce memorabilia, I have hundreds of items, and just when I think I’ve seen it all, something new pops up….
12 display cases chock full of small items, a display case full of bigger items, and then of course the big stuff, ice box, pedal car, wagon, bicycles, Stanhope engine, and so forth.
Guess it sounds like bragging, I’m just passionate about Pierce stuff and rarely get to share it with others….
Alan, I’m waiting to verify engine numbers and see if the engine is correct. Also, it depends somewhat on what he’s asking for the engine, as it would just be bought to “be” with car, I would not plan to rebuild and install.
I’ve always been somewhat of a purist, so I like the idea of having it. Cords are fairly easy to document, and while I’m not a fan of the overused term “matching numbers”, that’s what we’re talking about.
I’m having a little trouble finding the buttons in my storage space, they’ll show up. I have one I’ll send to Ken, and as to more, wait until I can find everything, and I’ll repost.
I have a lot of Pierce stuff that I’ll sell before too long, duplicates that I don’t need.
I’ve had trouble finding stuff lately. Hope it’s not old age, I’d like to think that I’m just so “stuff-rich” that it’s overwhelming!
Then again, my father used to say that his “forgetter is working overtime”….
Sorry, you’ll have to stand on your head to read the one page. I would assume one might print them out to read?
In an interesting side note, the author told me in his “permission” email that he’d just bought a large pile of Cord 810-812 parts, and in the pile is the original engine for my 1937 Cord phaeton! He wonders if I want it. My car was refurbished at the factory in the early 1950’s, with a replacement engine and transmission. When I had the car certified at the ACD festival, I worried about that, the head guy laughed and said maybe half the Cords out there have the wrong engine in them! I think he was exaggerating, but…

OK, I have permission from Jim to post his article, am going to try to do so here, it’s three pages so might be three posts if it works….
