This world-famous collection started with one T-28 Trojan trainer Rod Lewis purchased in 1995. Rod’s growing squadron now musters 36 flying heroes, along with some of those they fought against. Like the almost mythic Glacier Girl P-38F, each has its own incredible story. See them here. Where legends live to fly another day.

The McNay Art Museum, located in San Antonio and named for founder Marion Koogler McNay, is the first modern art museum in Texas.
The Buckhorn Saloon is where it all began—where history was made and legend lives. It is where Teddy Roosevelt recruited Rough Riders and Pancho Villa is rumored to have planned the Mexican Revolution.

The Alamo ~ Price of Freedom

This 30 minute docu-drama recreates the heroism of the 189 Texans, Tejanos and settlers who defended the besieged Alamo fort for 13 days against the Mexican army of General Santa Anna.  “Remember The Alamo!”

The Alamo

The most enduring symbol of independence in Texas, the Alamo’s 1744 church, is part of the remains of the mission complex established by the Franciscans as Mission San Antonio de Valero in 1718.  In 1836 it was the site of the famous battle in defense of the Texas Revolution when Mexican President Santa Anna’s army annihilated approximately 190 men after a 13-day siege. Their sacrifice inspired General Sam Houston’s army six weeks later at the decisive battle of San Jacinto, which established Texas’ independence.

San Antonio Riverboat Tour

Boat cruises on the Riverwalk are an amazing way to see the river and downtown San Antonio.  The tour of the main Downtown area lasts 35 to 40 minutes and is a wonderful way to learn about the origins of the river and Downtown history.
Sunday, February 6

Mission San José Tour

Known as the “Queen of the Missions”, this is the largest of the missions.  Spanish missions were not churches, but communities with the church the focus. Mission San José captures a transitional moment in history, frozen in time.  Members are invited to stay for the “Mariachi Mass” after the tour.  This unique Southwest cultural and musical experience is a must when in San Antonio!

Each days’ travel is arranged to be by motorcoach as a group.  Thursday’s Welcome Party at the Smith home can be made by car-pool amongst members with vehicles or Uber from hotel.
