| Vehicle History | S. Hozmer Compton purchased this car in 1961 when he spotted it outside the garage of Frankie Watts. It had been pushed outside due to lack of repair payment. After Hosmer paid $50. to Frankie, he had the Pierce towed to a garage close to his Coral Gables home. He needed several parts that had been stolen while parked. Many years were spent letter writing to various collectors to obtain parts needed to complete his restoration. His restoration was very amateurish. “Hoz” joined the Pierce-Arrow Society in 1957 and was an active member. In 1998 he gifted the car to his brother Hosmer L. Compton. After his death, I purchased this rare coupe from his Son, Robert Jr. the Pierce was shipped to me in 2010. My restoration took 3.5 years. Since the finish, my coupe has won every concours entered. While contesting at the Palms Verde Councours de Elegance, the Pierce was admired by the Editor of Collectible Automobile. This Pierce-Arrow is featured in the April 2020 Edition Dana Newquist |
