    1921 X5 Two Ton Project Saturday, 17-Sep-2016

Put truck in the search box on the Message board index page and scroll back to 2016 it should be there, I can not get a URL link to work because of the password issues.

Here is the thread from when Bill was a member and was very active in working on this truck, Karl

    arm pins for bars

Greg, this is the lower landau bar mounting pin.(just behind the door) There is a center drilled dowel with a square 3/4 inch hole that slides over this pin. The wooden dowel gets covered on leatherback and conv. coupes with top material. There is also a covered washer? or a rubber washer? against the body at this location. I am thinking this was about 1 1/2 inches on my last coupe. the upper front location also has a 3/4 inch pin mount with the threaded cap nut. I will get another photo later today. Karl

Robert, I consider myself lucky to get three teens out of bed on a Saturday to help park cars and check in tour members to be quite a feat with only the offer of all the coffee and donuts they can eat and drink as payment. They are our future for the hobby! Oh wait, I guess we fed them lunch too. We should have tried to get them in the rumble seat of your roadster! Karl

David and all, well… 12 pencil holders makes it 1927 and up Truck, not the 24-26. The first change over to 6 cylinders. Ernie’s 1930’s truck has the non-Pierce-Arrow Hercules engine. Karl

To all, David sent this to me first, thinking I might need for my truck. I told him it was later 4 cyl truck. It fits 1924-26. You will see it and my dual cap distributor used mostly to replace unrepairable magnetos for Stutz dual plug 4 cyl engines. They pay $$$ for them and get another Stutz back on the road. Two early ignition guys rebuild them and its a great replacement for them. With the manual advance arm its the ticket. That said, I know of no truck owners who need it. The cap is harder to find than the Distributor. It would be a great pencil holder for anyone’s desk! It could be your reason to buy a truck to put under it! Karl

David, those attending the 2020 PAS Meet will get to see the 16+ conv. coupes all 12-16 cyls. including a Pierce Arrow. We will also get to see the rest of his collection. Karl

Hershey Map: also for those attending, note the big red X at the lower right. This is where they had to relocate all the venders for construction of the new Hershey Park entrance. Many are relocated into the “tram”” road just to the left. The rest have been moved everywhere empty and non renewed spaces could be found. Karl”

    in reply to: 1930 Model C #410881

John, the distributor that Jim Livings has for sale in the emporium is the correct one for your 1930 Model C, It falls in the hole where the 29 Distributor is now. The caps and rotors are a LOT cheaper and easier to find than the big cap and rotor. At $100 that’s a bargain. Karl

in reply to: Charging system #410812

Eric, your 1929 generator should have a voltage limiter, when the voltage in the battery reaches 7.2 volts it will stop charging for a time, with no lights on this could be a while. If you keep the battery on a tender, it wont take long to get to 7.2 volts. Turn on the headlights and see if it starts charging again. Or, you still have a problem, put a volt meter on and let us know what you find. Karl
