Terry, I feel your open wheel or my closed wheel would look wonderful on your new Pierce on a black Bakelite cap. This logo is Pierces earliest with a lowered “carved out”” center point. Even the early Billings tool kit wrenches have this detail. The later Fairmont wrenches do not have this engineering detail. With right hand drive maybe a mascot will keep you on the right side of the road. Karl”
Two senior MotoMeters, Black painted has Dealer name and pat. dates as early as 1913. Last pat. date 1918 Other has “deluxe”” trim with wreath around the openings. Karl”
Block Letters
Second Script Wheel, note early style valve stem cover and fine detail casting. Karl
Brass dog bone too
Terry, I found this Motometor at the Chickasha Swap Meet. It has a brass plate with the wheel and arrow. So this would be pre-nickel? There is three different wheels like yours. Two have script Pierce, the other has block letters Pierce. The one you have has the largest wheel of the three. I was told yours was the last, and correct for Series 36. Karl
Richard needs a clock, this e-bay item is a speedo. Karl
Richard, this speedo doesn’t fit your car, it is for a 30 model A or B. Just like the other clock you found on e-bay last year it is about 15% larger and won’t go in the bezel of a 133 model 125. Karl
Richard, One click left should give you your bar parking lights, one click right of off gives you low beam, two clicks gives high beam, do you still have the resistor block to mount back on the left front inner frame rail? this is where low and high comes from on 29’s. This junction block coiled resistor also reduces voltage to the 1000 bulb for low beams. Do you have the wiring diagram? 1930’s do not have the resistor. Karl
Richard, they look great. A quick note: the area around the letters should be filled with gloss black paint so only the chrome letters are showing between the raised inner and outer rings. It makes them pop! Karl
Liz, Mary and I will be there, add us to the count, Karl

Paul and all,
Restoring trucks are a labor of love. My goal is to make this truck run after a 60+ year sleep.
Greg L. checked and his old 1919 model 38 valves and they are also 8 1/2 inches long and not 8 3/4 inches, the same as Paul’s valves they are both .406 inch diameter. I was hoping to keep the engine project from becoming a full rebuild if possible. I will not be doing much touring with 5 tons of anything at 15 mph!! It will be a great hpof vehicle if I can get it moving again. I just checked my length again and it did not change 8 3/4″. This truck also uses a 4 1/2 inch bore. Same as 48 hp. cars? I appreciate the other leads from Ed and David for new valves. I will wait and see if someone finds 48 hp valves to see if they could be longer before I venture to get some made. Karl”
Rich, thank you for posting for the dates. I was trying to see how my work, Chickasha Swap meet, Amelia Island and future summer trips to the OBX with the grand kids would fit with next year’s PAS Meet and Meeting. Looks like we can make all of these venues. Karl
Mr. Bowman giving us details about his cars with one of the other “P’s” in the foreground. Our member Ken in the background. After answering many questions and reflected on when and why vehicles ended up in the building we were off too soon to visit our next stop, a building full of Franklins.
See you all soon, Karl
Early trucks from the Bowman Fleet. This company was started by our host with one truck 59 years ago! His sons are taking the company into the future.
The Don Bowman collection included over 75 trucks and cars covering three buildings. Photos of some of his early trucks.
Rick, the original body wiper fits without hitting, flat side down. The post WWII body is larger and has to be mounted upside down. If using the post war wiper, the left and right move from one side to the other because of the hose locations. Post a photo of your wiper motors and we can id them for you. Karl
