    Jim and Ryan,

Made it back. Hit Craters of the Moon, EBR-1 the first commercial electricity generating nuclear reactor, circa 1951 which is near the National Labs, in the middle of nowhere Idaho. Man is that place desolate. Makes the Craters of the Moon seem like Manhattan. I am glad I didn’t have a Geiger counter. Nuclear everywhere. If you don’t like crowds, this is the place for you, restaurants/gas missing too.

Got to do thru Arches and Canyonland/Dead Horse. Was very impressed with Canyonlands, town of Moab, not so much. Bought my $80 lifetime Park Pass and got that back almost immediately.

Stayed in a vodka distillery (Marble Vodka/Distillery Inn) in Carbondale, CO. The distillery has 5 guest rooms in the complex and was really a cool setup. The only PA thing I saw on the trip was 2 photographs of Archers. One without a bow and arrow and one with the arrow under the hand.

Thanks again for sharing your input.

    Bill and Peggy.

    Jim and Ryan,

Thanks for the great options. Only one on current agenda is Arches.

The Tetons sound like one to do. My tour guide tells me we don’t have time for them all.

    Have a happy 4th.

    Jim,

You can also check the AACA Library. They photocopied a ’33 book for me.

They might be able to confirm the existence of said item.

I have a non running data plate for a 12. Does that count?

in reply to: 36 at auction #409985

I have a lot of non running stuff in the basement. Maybe it is time to sell.

How much of a car do you have to have to claim it is non running? Chassis, wheels and tires?

Modern automatic transmission fluid is red and does not evaporate and I don’t think it looses color. It is a mineral oil with additives for lubricity, detergency and heat transfer, if I recall.

Automatic transmissions were just starting to show up in the 30’s so fluid wasn’t a common thing. I wonder it that might be a substitute?

    H330 and H335.

Guess you have to drive with the windows open, don’t breath, have an airline respirator or some combination thereof.

Take the WD40 tube, seal one end, cut to short length and use it as a float??

    Jim,

One caution, you can not reverse the softening. If you leave them in too long they can get mushy, which is kind of the point if you are trying to remove them. For reconditioning, I recommend “painting”” the solution on rather than soaking. Paint them a couple of times and wait a couple days to see the results. Repeat as necessary.

    Jim,

Sorry the BF isn’t working. I assume you have the glass/frame out of the car. You could try Oil of WIntergreen mixed 1 part oil 3 parts rubbing alcohol. Let it soak a week or so.

On an earlier thread, George Teebay advised the following

The Onan part number for service in 1929-31 Pierces (possibly more) is 0312-0256 as identified by Greg Loftness (who once worked for Onan) in an old Service Bulletin.

Punch onan into the search and it is under
