That SABA sounds like a beast.
And with motorized tuning by wired remote?
Does it get any better than that in vintage consoles?
I bet it sounds very warm.
Thanks Bob.
Once I get the chance to dig into it I will know what I need.
I know first thing I need to do is replace all the caps.
I don’t dare try to turn it on with all those old, original caps in there.
The only tube that should be hard to find is the tuning eye tube.
Hopefully it is still in good working order.
Ken, the crowds have been a nightmare.
The population here in Elsinore is around 60,000 and we have had around 50,000 people show up in one day to see the poppies.
Elsinore has been featured in stories all across the US and even in countries like India and the UK.
The whole thing caught the city off guard since this isn’t the first time a super bloom has happened and they have been scrambling to come up with a plan that works for all involved.
You can’t please everyone and I know they are doing their best.
But since I live on the north end of town a little east of all the madness it has been tough at times just trying to get anywhere around town and away from town.
I’ll be sure to send everyone your way when your bloom starts to happen.
Bob, I have an old Grundig console radio that I am going to freshen up, I may have to hit you up for some tubes.
If you have these made I’m sure there are a few people that would pick them up from you.
It’s not doubt that pretty much all of the same vintage cars are suffering the same fate as yours.
That’s great news David!
Even if you never install the engine your car can always be sold as a true numbers matching set.
Is the engine serviceable or was there some really bad damage to the block that made the service dept swap the block?
Or did they do the swap to speed up the turn around process?
Tsk, tsk Ed.
Showing more love for your non-PA cars.
But when you do source some 6v bulbs for one of your Pierces please let us know the details.
My front mat also seems to have some softer material as a backing.
At least under the part where the battery compartment is.
It just looks like a thicker, not as dense rubber.
That portion of the mat is what is really suffering since I have to move the mat to access the battery from time to time.
I may remove the battery cutoff switch so I don’t have to pull up the mat before I start the car after sitting for awhile.
In case I wasn’t clear, I just want to make sure I am on the list for the front mat.
I still have the original one that is getting more brittle every year.
Well said, Greg.
While the dual filament bulbs in my ’29 are bright for an antique car they are far from optimal for night driving with modern traffic.
More focused light on the road is always a good thing as long as it doesn’t blind other drivers.
Some 6v bulbs for our taillight assemblies would also be great.
A 4cp bulb just doesn’t cut it on today’s roads.
I, too, am curious to see if your car gets reunited with its original engine.
I always felt this forum needed an ‘Other Makes’ forum so members could discuss non-Pierce related stuff like this.
I feel it would keep more members logging in regularly which in turn would drive more traffic to the Pierce side of things.
Let us know how your Cord engine adventure progresses.
Congrats on the sale.
Too bad you had to take a hit on the deal but a very significant car was saved from an uncertain future.
Hopefully the new owner joins the PAS.
It would benefit him greatly during his restoration if he does.
David, those are some wonderful items.
I think an article in the Arrow would be appropriate to focus on a few of the PAMC items, why they were produced and how you came to find them.
I’m sure the stories from just a few of the items could fill pages.
$30 a pop.
A little pricey but the high end LED bulbs tend to be.
I will have to check the clearance under the flat lens on my ’29.
If the car is a proven 12 cylinder convertible that is a great price.
Someone got a great deal on that one.
Rick, if you can locate factory ones there may also be slots that are cut into the fender for locating tabs on the chrome strips in addition to the screw holes needed.
I’m not sure about these strips as I’ve never seen them on or off of a car but other chrome strips work that way.
What does one have to do to arrange a visit?
Sure looks like it is supposed to have dual rear wheels.
There are two extra wheels inside the passenger area of the bus so maybe those are the wheels that go with the bus for the rear dual wheels?
They sure want a lot for that bus.
Ad states it is complete but shows no seats at all.
Not even the seat frames.
Would be a great old beast if it was restored but the seller won’t get anywhere near his asking price.
Let’s see if this link works.
