I found and am having restored a very late 29-32 Majestic radio for my 29. Pierce offered a Transitone (I think it was made by philco, correct if Im wrong) for $200. WOW! You probably could have bought a used ford for that.

The radio restoration guy said they all sounded like crap but are very neat to look at lololo.

This is my radio prior torestoration. I have not gotten it back as of yet.

    James,

I too love charlie chaplins car. You don’t see those colors very often. I don’t believe my car will be ready for any show this year. I am hoping, but doubt it. Though, my team is working incredibly quick, the chromer and interior guy has all of sudden has brought this project to a snails pace. Ofcourse, I want the quality and skill so it turns out perfect. However, my team has spoiled me with their spead and quality. lolol (yup, im a brat)lolo

I might go to the show without a car. :( just to wintness one of these events.) With my luck and impulsivity, I would come without and go home with a car. :)))

p.s. Ed, even though I would never had the nerve to paint your car that blue, I love it on that car.

The cool thing about your car is in a 100 years someone will find it and some PA member will rember it as yours. They will inform that new caretaker, it would NOT be correct if you changed the Edgar blue. You have made that car a status original as it sits. Nice!

    Bill,

I am currently in consult with American Arrow on the rear wings. They have a design that folds in and attaches to one another if you have to lift the cowl. However, the weight is the issue at hand as you stated. We are still working on it. I will post the conclusion once we get there.

As usual Bill, your help is fantastic. Rick

    Hi all,

If I sounded like sour grapes that was not my intent. All I was trying to say, no matter how well you restore your car, there will always be someone who will pick it apart. thats all.

Please keep all the information coming. I learned more in 5 months than I would have on my own in years.

I believe that my trippe lights are orignal. Every ware mark, rusty bolt and most important wiring indicate original. The wires are threw the harnes, not independant wires added later.

My car is never going to get to Pebble Beach, nor is it going to Gilmore just to be judged. I can not afford a concourse restoration nor do I want one. I would hate to drive my car and be terrified that a nick or scratch would cause a dudction in points later on. That would ruin the whole purpose of having this car for me. My car will not be a garage queen.

Everyone has had extreme opinions on my car. Some openly on this site and some have privately “cautioned” (for lack of better word), me via email. Even on extra accessories like the vacuum, fire extinguisher, trunk et…… I have recieved extreme responses. My point is, there is no absolute correct answer that everyone will agree on, on any one car.

To be truthful, at first I was afronted with the assault of opinions that came my way. (Of my own invitation). However, I then stood back and took each response as a learning curve. It was actually quite helpful. No matter whether I thought it had merrit or not, it gave me a large basis of knowledge in making my final decsions on virtually everything about my car.

Keep the comments comming. I may not agree, nor heed everyones warning, but I have learned volumes from all your input. I do apreciate it greatly. :) Rick

    Hi Richard

The car will have massive white walls and as the option catlalog printed it, “chromium plated wheels”. I have the dark color for the top, fenders and reveal selected. Im still down to two for the contrasting color of the body and interior. The interior will not be the same color as the top. Way too hard to get an exact match.

The front end will be quite bright. All the orignal lights will be going back on the car. Trip lights, parking lights, head lights, fog light. I know some people remove some because it is too busy. I happen to like all those lights. There will also be an original Loraine drivers side spot light, with Pierce brass tag on it. The aposite side will have a running board spot. thanks to KK, It will have the chrome side mount tire mounting locks. As well as the side mount tire mirrors. A set of running board courtesy lights are there as well. (thanks Pete).

Few other things: Orignal liscense plates from 29, Original radio, mounted to fire wall and control head mounted to steeing colum. I have an original leather open car lap robe with the Original custom pierce stitching from chase. An original foot warmer for the back. Original and corect, North East hot head lighter. (thanks again pete) Wind wings front and rear. Longer enclosed wings on the rear.

Im sure I am forgetting all sorts of things. Just ask if your curious. loloolol Except for color ofcourse. :)

My goal is to make this car opra classy and not heading off to the country for a pic nic. I actually like the canary yellow 29’DC I have seen many pics of. However, it looks like it is going out for a country pic nic or county fair musical. I am looking for a more elegant apearance.

Thank you for all the opinions. I just had to get acalmaited to such an overwhelming response to color choice. I was overwhelmed with the hard core purest at one end, all the way to the “dosen’t matter , paint what you want” on the toher. After I thought about it AlOT, I think all the opinions have there place and a few things stand out to me.

    1. Keep the design and elegance of the Pierce as clean and 29 as you can.

    2. Never Paint a 29 with metalic or the club will show up with bows and arrows…………….and a rope.

    3. Enjoy your car, choose a color you love but accents the cars original beauty.

    4, The most important……..Have fun!

The second picture down is the trunk that I am using on my 29. I have seen exact models on other 29s, 30-31 and 32.

My leather guy is creating a configuration that will acomodate some luggage as well as the pierce Vacuum and Fire extinguisher.

I was a bit surprised that when searching for a trunk, this was on the smaller size. Some of these are substantially larger. Mine is about 16 deep and 34 wide. This size leaves about an inch of the wrack to show.

p.s. Whoever owns that two tone blue 32. I love it! That is a way cool car. :)

    Hi all,

If there was a standard trunk by pierce, it was not the only option. In the accessory catalog, it indicates there were several “custom” trunks to go with enclosed as well as open cars. As David pointed out, these are for cars that do not have the trunks that are design into the body lines of the car itself. These are the trunks for the wracks. Trunks came empty or with custom luggage in differant configurations. There are also truly custom. As you all know, you could order anything you want, as long as you have the color green to back it up. :)

This 32 obviously was designed with the trunk that melded into the body lines and came from the factory.

I was originly was going to reskin the leather trunk to match the body. The upholstry man as well as the luggage man said that would be a mistake. I heeded their warraning. I went with the jet black as it always had been.

The car originaly has the trunk/luggage rack. There is no need to extend anything. It will clearly fit. The car came with some tiny little trunk that was obviously not the one that left the factory with the car. The trunk I fond is an inch or so smaller than the rack and fits the existing bolt holes exactly.
