@Jim,
Please do look for the temp gauge guy’s info for me.
Was just thinking about a thin, red ‘COB’ chip-on-board LED arrangement that could supplant the tube in the gauge. Unlike individual LEDs, a COB can be in the shape of a solid bar. Google it and you’ll see what I mean. The circuit to drive this as a fuel level or water temp isn’t a big deal. Just thinkin’ out loud here.

@Jim:
Thanks for the info.
I am dreaming of ways that I could modernize these gauges with a red cylinder that would substitute for the fluid, rising and dropping accordingly.
Where might I find ‘the temperature gauge guy’ or his successor?
For synchronizing the carburetors on motorcycles this was done with vacuum gauges or ‘Carb Stix’, mercury filled tubes that would rise or fall with the vacuum being pulled thru the intake manifold. There’s a modern version of this gadget called a ‘Carbtune’ that uses metal rods in the clear plastic tubes, instead of mercury. I love challenges!
If I land one of these cars, not doubt, I’ll have lots more questions  😉.

@Jim – sending you an email…
Hi @Ryan:
The non-fender mounted headlight P-A’s are rererred to as ‘bracket light cars’. As I understand it, the fender mounted lights were not permitted in some locales. These more conventional headlights were a pricey option at the time, around $250, I believe.

I should be able to help you. I will check this afternoon. Bill Witmer
FROM OUR NEW FRIEND HOWARD IN THE UK ~THANKS AGAIN TO TONY AND MARC FOR THE HELP!!
Hello Liz,
I cannot thank everyone enough for getting this information on the car. It just goes to show that you learn something every day. I have now begun my journey down the Stevens-Dureya rabbit hole!
I have also got hold of a copy of Marc Ralstons’ Pierce-Arrow marque history, just for good measure, so hopefully I will not get caught out again!
Once again, many thanks
Kind regards
Howard
Thanks Mark and Tony! Y’all are great! I will pass this along to solve the family’s “Mystery”!! 😉

Hi James Chase!
Glad to hear that you’re using the Publications Search Tool! Several volunteers put in many hours to convert the old 90 page paper Service Bulletin Index into a true relational database that works within the new website.
At the time of the conversion this Spring, 6422 Service Bulletin articles were indexed by Subject i.e. “Body”, “Chassis”, “Drive Train” etc., as well as Model, Cylinders, Year and a “wildcard” aka Keyword.
For those unfamiliar with this new feature, here is a screen shot of the Subject drop down menu. This is a good place to start, then add your Model (next screen shot) or Year or Keyword

Here is a screen shot of the “Model” selection drop down menu.

It takes a little practice because the database is much more than a simple keyword search. One suggestion is to remember that “less is more” when setting up a query – the least amount of parameters will result in the most results. Then you can start filtering it down from there adding more parameters one at a time that distills it down to your choice of how many results you want to go through then by hand.
Then, of course, click on the article’s title and – Abracadabra! – there is a searchable PDF file of the exact edition with the information you’re looking for right in front of you ready to read or even print to take to the garage and get that Pierce-Arrow fixed!
Look for some info on using this helpful feature soon. We’ve been refining it ever since the website’s launch. It’s been a huge project but the data conversion and preservation and easy access is what the Pierce-Arrow Society is all about – I-N-F-O-R-M-A-T-I-O-N!
Stay tuned!
Thanks James! I will get these organized and added!
Thanks David! Will add them to the list.
Anyone else that has something to pass along on these or other suppliers, now is the time!!!
Let’s help each other!

Hi, thank you to everyone for your input. As of this morning we have agreed with Hyman to purchase the car!
We had looked at this car in November on our way across the country and couldn’t get it out of our heads. Your input affirmed to us that it would be a good addition to our collection. We love the vernacular style of the Vestibule Suburban, and the car presented itself quite honestly. We must drop the pan before we will tour it, but hope to bring it to Lancaster if we get it sorted in time.
Jack,
I have removed the quotation marks around the “Jack”” in your name.
Try posting another message to see if your whole name shows up.

David we wish to order the rubber floor mat for 1929 Pierce Arrow roadster that we are restoring. If you require a deposit please email – [email protected]
Thank you, Gayle
Peter Fawcett is on holidays therefore I will ask him next week if he wishes a floor mat for the 29 roadster we are working on. Is there a deadline of when the order/deposit needs to be confirmed? Thanks, Gayle
