Is it an early ’32 car?
Kind of like the duck/witch scene in Mothy Python and the Holy Grail
The ’38 has the banjo steering wheel, unique to 38. It has the center trunk light housing. Is it correct? I guess 36-37 body parts might be the same/similar. What did they make in 38, 18 cars???
Looks like the archer is a ’33. Large base, body integral to the base.
Well, turns out there are 4 PA’s total only one 36, but there is a ’38
1936 1602 V12 5 Passenger #3130018
1934 840A 8 cylinder 7 Passenger #2580209
1933 Seagrave V12 powered boattail project #1070437
1938 8 Cylinder 5 Passenger no numbers
Also a pre ’34 hood archer and a V12 badge.
All part of Jeff Begg collection
Based on what Craig says, does it have 3 or 4 holes in the mounting surface?
4= Type A, early
3= Arrolite, late
Peter,
Rick is looking for Type A
Peter,
Type A is the 24-29 set. 30-33 are Arrolite
There is a really rough set on exxx
Rick,
Be sure you look for one of the buckets with 4 rivets in the back to attach to the backing plate. That style was used from I think 24-29. The later 3 rivet buckets are different and fit 30-33, if I remember. I have conflicting info on ’30.

Here is the 668 off ebay. On yours it doesn’t look like there is any way to fire the second set of points
Here is the insides of my ’33, which should be very similar.
You don’t appear to have the correct one
Photos?
I would be sure that there is not a crack in the cap.
So sequentially the rotor would go 5(dead) 8(alive??) 3(dead) 7(dead)
The 8 alive is the puzzler
There is something odd. If it was a coil or condenser than there would be another dead cylinder.
It would seem to me if the firing order is 1-6-2-5-8-3-7-4? then 6-5-3-4 would be off one set of points and 6 and 4 should be dead too or if off the other than 1-2-8-7 would be dead.
I would lean towards the cap or wires. Do you have any plug wires out of sequence?
Has anyone looked at having them water jet cut? The side piece may have to be made separate, but Wj will cut this. Can’t speak to the accuracy, but WJ is pretty good.
Randy,
I view the time spent is an INVESTMENT!! Keep telling yourself that.
Just think, the next time you are in a trivia contest and the question is “what type of fasteners did Maytag use?”” then you will be the only one with the answer.”
Ok, FYI.
I have found out that they are Gulmite tamper proof fasteners.
There are various sizes used for coach, appliance and radio applications, apparently.
Have a couple leads, but still no wrench.
Tony,
Thank you. Catch you after the migration.
