Here is a photo of the Goose before the fenders were removed, looking a little more “Pierce-ish”

The website committee has been meeting several times via zoom now, and are considering these, and other changes to the website.

These changes will be presented at the PAS Winter Board meeting.

Please continue to let us know of any suggestions, changes, or ideas you may have for this site.

The website committee has had a brief meeting and discussed some of the issues put forth here.

We are in the process of sorting through some ideas and putting them together for the website. We have noted the suggestions here and would welcome any further input on the members part that would help us in streamlining the website and making it a little bit more user friendly.

Remember, if you don’t speak up, your voice will never be heard.

One of the problems with this website is that most people simply do not like change. You get used to something for so long, suddenly it changes, and you have to learn some things all over again. Is it a pain in the ass?, yes it is, but it is a pain we need to endure if we want to stay ahead of the game and learn.

While the old website may have been easier for some folks, it was outdated after only a few years. Technology is changing so fast these days that even new computers are outdated after only a years time. While this new site may seem overly complicated to some, think of it as buying another Pierce-Arrow, you are not going to learn everything about it unless you take some time looking it over and seeing the things that need your attention.

I am noting the posts here, and I will take these matters into suggestion at our next website meeting.

Thank you all for your input.

    Jim,

    Thank you for your response.

I put this question to the membership because we cannot fix, nor change, anything on this site if we do not hear from the members as to what they want. If they just continue to stay away from this site, and not use it because they don’t like change, then we will never grow as a club if technology continually changes around us and we remain the same.

We may be looking at a few “tweaks” here and there in the near future, but I do not think another wholesale revamp is needed.

A week has passed and I am already missing the friends we saw at the Gathering. So many thank you’s to those who put this event together every year. Dave and Diana Stevens, Bill and Wilma-Hunter Morris, Greg Long, for always coming thru when there is a break down, and everyone else who works towards making this a great event.  I am already looking forward to next year. VIVA PIERCE-ARROW!

in reply to: Movie Cars: “Road To Perdition” #469147

My first encounter with a Pierce-Arrow was through a used car lot in Monroe MI where they rented pre-war cars to movie lots, then sold them when the shooting was done. I came across the black 1929 (or 30) Pierce-Arrow used in the series The Untouchables (1993-94) I fell in love with the car, but no way was my wife going to let me have it. I think it got sold, and shipped, to Texas shortly after my encounter with it.

Bill Morris knows the car, he was there for the filming of the movie. If memory serves, it was a non-running car, they pushed it where it needed to be.

This hearse is still for sale, though I do not know if it is currently running or not.

Not a Pierce-Arrow.  It is listed as a 1922 Essex coupe.

    Kenneth,

I am having the same problem. if I re-install the rims and tubes, I cannot inflate the tires at all, and I cannot install the covers either. The photo shows how the current tire fits in the well, and I cannot put the cover over it even without the rims and tubes as it is.

    Ken,

I have the same heating set up in my ’32. One heat vent for the front, and one for the back. it is currently disconnected. I will get pictures if interested.

You would think with this Carona mess, and the lock downs that have followed, it would have brought a lot of people to the forum here, if for nothing else, to just find out what is going on in the Society, and a chance to catch up on the latest activities. It would seem it has had the opposite effect. I have noticed on the Pierce-Arrow Museum Facebook page a significant drop off in the numbers of member participation since this whole Corona hysteria has happened. I try to keep it going with posts everyday, but it will not sustain itself on it’s own without member participation and input.

Forums, like the one here, cannot sustain themselves without active member participation. It would seem more and more people are drifting away from forums like this (and Facebook) I try to check this site every day, if not every other day, just to see if any thing new has come up.

There seem to be a lot of reasons why people are staying away from these forums, maybe they just find that, with all the extra time on their hands, these forums are the last thing on their minds right now….who knows?…

Honestly David, I can think of several reasons:

1: Change of venue:  Most people don’t like change, they would rather stick with what they know, although they would constantly complain about it, they would still use it.

2: Not enough members on computers: I would guess that over half of our membership do not spend much time on a computer to begin with, they simply don’t want to bother with it.

3: Now that we have a new, inspiring website, most members do not want to bother to get acquainted with it. They do not want to take the time to see what this new website has to offer, so they just stay away from it.

4: Old habits die hard: I figure most of the membership here were so used to the old website that this new one does not appeal to them, therefore they do not wish to post on it.

    Am I getting warm yet?…

We have two sites now on Facebook dealing with Pierce-Arrow’s and their history, and to try to get members in the Pierce-Arrow Society to join Facebook alone is a chore, much less that asking them to adapt to a new website like this. I don’t have any answers to as to how we can encourage more people to use this site, maybe we can throw in a toaster oven for new members posting on this site?…just a thought…

    To David and Peter,

Thank you very much for the information. David, you were spot on in your observations, the bolts were loose, I tightened them up and it seemed to correct the problem.  Peter, I may be contacting John in the near future for new material.

    Thank you both,

    Curtiss
