Dave,
Thank you for the explanation, the problem has been discussed at length with me and I understand the situation now. I was unaware of the continuing problem with the current forum, and and therefore my reaction in my initial post. I suspect most members would have been asking the same questions, as the problem was not initially known to a lot of members to begin with.
That said, if the problem is something that cannot be fixed with the data we have on hand, and the answer is to throw more time and money at fixing the problem in the near future, then perhaps this is not a bad idea until we get the initial problem with our own server fixed in due time.
My question is, when did this occur?…why this change all of a sudden?…what is wrong with the forum we have now?…is it because members here do not understand how to use it?…is it flawed in some way?…the PAS went to a lot of trouble ( and money) to put up this new forum and now you want to abandon this forum for something else?…why?…
I fail to understand why this subject is even being brought up, was this suggested because the members here do not know how to properly use the forum and therefore, because they know how to use the AACA forum better, we might as well switch to that one instead the one we have now?…
What’s next?…do we switch our for sale ads over to the AACA forum as well because they have better graphics?…or do we just let this website completely go and join the AACA instead because they have a better website and forum altogether?…
I am a member of the PAS, I am not a member of the AACA, nor do I wish to become a member of that organization ( I was a member for one year, they did not impress me) so what is the bottom line here, why is this move even being suggested?…
Oivind, you need to start sharing these photos on the Pierce-Arrow Museum pageon Facebook, they are great photos.
I would tend to agree with Craig.
We can sit here and debate the pro’s and con’s of this green Pierce, but the fact remains, if the owner does not sell this car, it may well end up being cut up for a street rod, and another Pierce is lost forever.
I agree his price is way out in left field, but I am hoping he comes to reason, and ends up selling it to someone who will try to put some effort into at least getting it running, maybe use it as a good touring car for a while.
It is a shame that some people cannot reasonably think that a car like this is just not worth what they think it is, just because of the name.
I do hope this Pierce ends up with someone willing to try to save it.
His original asking price was $46,000 dollars. When I spoke to him on the phone, I tried to tell him to listen to what the PAS members had to say about the car, the condition, and the price…I told him the members know what they are talking about, and are not trying to low ball you if you think the price doesn’t meet your expectations…guess he didn’t listen.
I have been informed by Don’s Son-in-law Howard there is to be a memorial service planned for Don at the Packard Proving Grounds on Aug. 11 between 1-4.
The grounds are located at 49965 Van Dyke road between 22 and 23 mile roads in Shelby Township MI.
People are asked to bring any pre-war car as a memorial to show on the grounds. I will be driving my Pierce there.
FYI I just spent the last half hour talking to Mark on the phone…He sounds like a really nice guy, and he is going to send me additional info and photos tomorrow…he is selling it because he is into high performance vehicles and he just wants this car to go to a good home…If you are interested at all in the car I suggest you call him, he is really easy to talk to, and sounds like he really would welcome any input we may have…I will post additional info when I get it.

Maybe you should put that plate in one of their auctions Bill, you might get $5,000 for it!
Thank you Bill…$35,000 for a non running Pierce…wow!

Information provided: The back of the photograph is inked -1929 Pierce-Arrow Don Lee body. It is an earlier RHD model. It shows considerable alteration, beginning with smaller wheels and ending with substantial body revisions that would not be out of character for a Don Lee body.
Car was passed on at $26,500…no sale.
