I cut through the cracks at the recess for the lug wrench and the metal is only .050″ thick there .150″” in the rest of the rib. Definitley a weak area.”

    Ed,

Are the new sending units universal or application specific?

    William,

I have the double contact sockets and 1 bulb is marked 1000. Are the filiments supposed to be verticle or horizontal? Jim

    Craig,

Today I received 2 reflectors and they look and measure like you described. The seller said they were for a 1930 so if they are not exactly correct I’ll still use them. They came with sockets and bulbs but the bulbs are not matches.

I need to make new mounting rings, I’m tired of dealing with pot metal. I took out the gas sending unit yesterday and the pot metal gears in that are cracking also. Thanks again for the pictures and descriptions. Jim

Thank you Greg. Is the lens for the 30 flat like the 29 or is that an item that carried over on the 30s until they ran out then changed?

In the back of the car there was a package that had 2 bowed out lenses made from plastic but they are so yellow they would look like fog lights. Has anybody tried using the plastic ones for moulds in ceramic and slumping clear glass into them? Jim

Thanks to everybody for the info now I have an idea of what to look for. Especially thanks to Craig for taking your car apart to get pictures at 11:00PM. That’s way more than I would have asked. Jim

David, why is chrome not good as a reflector? I had the reflectors on my 37 Dodge chromed 40 years ago and they still are as bright as Halogens. How were the headlights adjusted? I don’t see any holes for a tool. Jim

I do have enough pieces of the pot metal ring that screws to the opening so I can machine new ones of those.

    Bill,

Thanks. You are pretty sure that’s an OEM muffler? What’s left of mine has the center pipe with the perferations and a divider in the center so the exhaust has to enter the body of the muffler then it goes into a cone and back into the center tube. Single wall outer shell. No idea if it’s OEM or not. Jim

in reply to: Exaust and Body #398754

    Bill,

Is the center tube open clear through or is there a plug in the middle? Jim

    Paul,

There was a post about Verdone not doing anymore castings. I thought it said she was selling out at Hershey. Jim

in reply to: Door handles #398713

    Bill,

They are some are cracked lengthwise most have the square pocket end broken some are broken in the middle. there is no repair with mine any repair would fail in the adjoining metal. Jim

Did Pierce still use that type of hose clamp in 1930?

I found this in PASB 72-1 page 5. Saying that a few 30s had the 3spd FW trans. The plot thickens. Jim

    Joe,

Thanks I’ll look at those. I was thinking Maroon with Black fenders and accents but maybe I should rethink that. I wouldn’t want to be driving it and have another one the same color pull up next to me.:)

Thanks Jak, Maybe I’ll flip a coin. Jim

Rust isn’t a problem here in Tucson, I’ll give it a try.

in reply to: 3 Speed shift fork question #398573

What years did PA use the double disc? That’s what mine has.

The OEM seals on the shift rails are cork is there any reason to not use Neopreme with just a slight drag? Jim

in reply to: 3 Speed shift fork question #398568

I have the knob under the dash so if it wasn’t offered stock then somebody changed it,when I don’t know. The car had been sitting since 1957. Jim

in reply to: 3 Speed shift fork question #398560

I don’t know what the trans year is then because it for sure is a 3 speed and it has freewheeling. I took the FW apart to free it up. In the picture you can barely see the trans and FW behind.

Ed, I’ll replace the springs, hadn’t planned to though, and make new seals for the rails. Thanks all. Jim
