I agree with you 100% Merlin, it was a nice place and it was great to see our PAS friends in TN-we had a productive board meeting as well.

Thanks to Jim, Barbara and Ben Oakes for making this successful meet happen.

in reply to: Demo of Proposed New Message Board Host – AACA #425359

Yesterday, the Website Committee presented an option that they described as addressing ‘serious system problems’ with our message board and ‘maximizing our marketing’. The new plan involves moving our PAS message board to the AACA. (Be advised our current website vendor is an administrator on the AACA Website)

The presentation was thorough and I thank the Website Committee presenters for their work. That said, to make the best decision possible for our organization, I believe additional due diligence in the form of multiple options for remedy are required.

    We must consider:

    1) Requesting a letter from the current website vendor outlining the site short comings and offering possible remedies to keeping our existing Message Board functional…even if entertaining addition cost for this remedy is required.

    2) Having a 2nd party review our website and offer potential alternate remedies.

The Message Board is much too important a tool in membership benefits to make a quick decision. Multiple options and a second opinion are inclined to yield the best choices for us to consider.

    Many thanks

    PAS Message Board users,
I would like to share some context on this topic.

The complete PAS Board of Directors has not formally reviewed proposed changes to our ‘Message Board’. We are currently in a due diligence process. As such, this coming Sunday, a presentation will be provided by the WebSite Committee outlining one proposal…..moving the PAS Forum to the AACA. Please understand that our Board is committed to explore all paths to assuring our Website and ‘Message Board’ vitality for our club, long-term.

In the days after the Zoom presentation, I encourage our Message Board users to reach out to members of the Board to share your thoughts on this matter…. an email, phone call, or the use of this Forum will be welcome. As key stakeholders in the franchise, your expectations are of primary concern and they will certainly drive next steps for our fine organization.

    Many thanks

Thank you all for the kind words. Sue and I very much enjoyed having our friends visit us in Williamsburg…thank you for coming! As we all know, the venues are nice, but it’s the PAS people that make it special.

Once again, Susan and I checked out the Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum, which is our early bird trip on Thursday 2-27. Members who are attending can have lunch inside the museum. The Virginia BBQ, farm raised catfish, with collard greens and beans come highly recommended.

Jim, you are so right. The dates of our meets need to be mindful of school.

I’ve gotten feedback that some of our members, who rely on their grown children to help them attend meets, the children have youngsters in school and it can impact all parties ability to attend.

For the 2021 Ca. meet, we will get the dates and some details posted after our Winter meeting at Williamsburg in a few weeks.

in reply to: 2022 Pierce Arrow annual met #411841

Hi Jim, 2021 is all set for Buellton, Ca. Details will be out very soon.

We have tentative plans for a visits to the Ocean front and a trip to Vandenberg AFB. Solvang is also on our list for touring.

We hope that you and your family can attend!

Tony, thanks for all the up front work your doing for this proposed meet.

I’m trilled that Craig pulled a hat trick on 1993 Meet Booklet.

Update: The hotel room block/PAS rates have now expired. We have had an excellent response and about 45 participants will be attending the event in just over 3-1/2 weeks. Attendees will receive confirmation letters next week-thank you very much for planning to spend time with your fellow PAS members!

If you are still considering attending, there’s still some time. Please contact me directly via email. I can help with a few guest rooms at $135/night. Otherwise, rooms can be booked through the hotel at their current rates.

Sue and I are looking forward to hosting this event. To our guests, safe travels to Virginia.

The Queensbury Hotel is a gem and very close to many interesting venues around Lake George. Some of the on-site staff remember the PAS in 1993 and are excited about being considered for 2022. We owe Tony a great dept of gratitude for his thought leadership and early due diligence on this potential site for 2022. The board will review the topic in Williamsburg.

If Glen Falls is a go, we will need regional folks to help Tony pull the meet together and execute it. Please email me if interested in helping in any way. Ed Minnie, the multitasker, will have duties to assure this meet goes smoothly.

I would be interested in reading any memories from the 1993 event and agologize for the distraction from Tony’s first post.

For those of you who have signed up for the 2020 Winter Weekend being held February 27 through March 1, thank you very much for planning to spend time with the members of our vibrant organization!

If you are contemplating joining us, or plan to attend but have not acted, there’s still 10 days left to make a hotel reservation and enjoy our negotiated PAS rate. After that however, the rooms will be released back to the hotel and my recent review on the hotel website shows rooms at $200+/night.

Make booking a room a priority and then follow up with the registration form attached!

Happy Friday and enjoy this holiday weekend.-John

in reply to: Membership Renewal #411333

The PAS website has used Paypal exclusively for the last 6-7 years for several good reasons. The most important is to maintain our PCI Compliance.

Thank you to Donna for her excellent work as Membership Chair!
