Ryan,
Non-detergent 30W is available at NAPA,
Shell Rotella 30W, a detergent oil marketed for diesel engines, is available at Walmart.
Both have anti-wear zinc (ZDDP) levels consistent with pre-1980’s motor oil but now almost totally removed from modern gas engine oil.
Eric,
Call John Cislak; best time to reach him is noon.
Good luck, Stu
Eric, Great! Please post a few photos, too.

One easy trick to tell if a watch crystal is either plastic or glass is to hold it to your cheek. If it’s cold, it’s glass; warm or room temperature, it’s plastic.
Chris,
Sta-Lube GL-4 is available through NAPA, smaller stores may have to order it. We’ve used it in our 1601 for the past 9 years. Stu Blair
Thank you Bill & George,
The O/D shaft bushing has not been replaced to my knowledge; this car had 31k miles on the odometer when acquired in 2011 and it was up on blocks for 58 years prior to that.
We’ll try the Motion Industries nitrile seal first.
Thanks again!
David, don’t let it get to you; just turn the other cheek…
Are you coming to the Gathering?
Congratulations Eric!
We’ll look forward to hearing all about it next month in Michigan at the Gilmore Gathering.
Stu Blair
That a wild west mother-in-law seat…
Somewhere west of Laramie…
Greg & Ken,
Thank you for hosting a great meet in Angola; your hard work and thorough planning certainly paid huge dividends! See you in August in Michigan,
Clara and Stu
Hi Liz,
Your link worked fine for me, both on my phone and laptop.
Thank you for posting!
Stu
Ryan,
Good luck at the Auburn auction!
Hope you’re the high bidder and get to enjoy your family’s Pierce for many years to come.
Perhaps we’ll see you and the’32 in Indiana .
Ed,
Great 1602 convertible coupe!
What did P-A call that color blue in ’36?
Factory colors included a “Lombardo Blue,” is this it?
Are you bringing the car to Indiana next month?
Stu
Firestone / Bridgestone Tube makes light truck inner tubes in Russellville, Arkansas, USA!
Their p/n 534-099 which is a light-duty truck 7.00R7.50R16LT tube with a TR-15-CW valve stem is listed on page 14 of the attached catalog link.
However, Firestone does not sell direct; last Summer, their customer service department referred me to one of their dealers who was very helpful in expediting my order:
GCR Tire, Ashtabula, Ohio, (440) 992-4406, I spoke with the manager Shawn Herron who quickly processed my order for one box of 10 tubes (this is Firestone’s minimum order qty.) p/n 534-099.
Total (again, this was last Summer) with Ohio sales tax was $224.18 and that included shipping for this drop-ship order coming directly from Firestone in Russellville, AR.
Thank you Liz for entering our Pierce-Arrow Museum Foundation in this grant award competition.
Question for the benefit of all: Can a person vote more than once per IP address?
If so, one vote per day, per week?
Vote early and often…thanks again!
Thank you Peter for renewing these arrangements again this year.
Last night, I ordered 3 batteries and below is a link to use which will take you directly to Optima’s 6V on-line order form. Using this Optima link, you’ll by-pass their generic order form which is set-up for 12V batteries despite the fact you can search for Pierce-Arrow, Hupmobile, Graham Paige, Hudson Terraplane, that other horrid “P” car, etc. and the reply is “nothing found for this application.”
The other item of note is Optima’s 6V part number is now 9010-044; I confirmed with Optima Jim this morning this is their only 6V battery. You’ll still need the Promotion Code obtained from Optima Jim as outlined in Peter’s ordering instructions on the Emporium page.
Thanks again Peter!

Happy April 1st!
A few years ago, Car & Driver.com ran a web article (on April Fool’s Day) that Toyota had acquired Oldsmobile’s trademarks from GM and they were going to resurrect that brand to fill the gap between Toyota and Lexus. Needless to say, the internet blew up over that announcement.
Thanks Karl for posting.
And congratulations to both David and Liz for this award recognizing both your effort and time spent to support our Pierce-Arrow museum.
Luke,
I’ve used Horseless Carriage twice; both times I called around and Horseless Carriage had the best rates. Their trailers were immaculate and drivers called along the route to advise arrival date/time.
Good luck, Stu
