Ended up that the winning bid was $315 and there were 2 bids that cmae in after the claimed end time for the bids.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since eBay has been known to be crooked at times.

    I’m bidding on this.

Is anyone else here doing the same?

    What a great find.

It is super rare to find a car with 90 years of known and verifiable history.

Enjoy the car, it’s a beauty.

    The plot thickens.

Thanks for keeping us up to date with all your trials and tribulations.

    Keep ’em coming. :)

Greg, I’m sure the added drivability of the downdraft more than makes up for the lack of originality.

And since it was installed by a Pierce expert I’m sure it was done right.

David, that is a great looking Rat Fink. It is extremely clean for its age.

Greg, that is a ’29 distributor cap but that downdraft carb and air cleaner are definitely not ’29.

I guess once all the usable UU2 castings disintegrate all of us early 8 cylinder guys will have to use downdraft carbs. :)

Must be the California only version.

He’s nice and tanned, laid back and half nude. :)

The vanity on eBay looks exactly like the one I have for my ’29 143 ED Limo.

Greg, that picture is scary looking.

Did the engine make any unusual noises when it was running with the bearing surfaces looking like that?

My ’29 Model 143 ED Limo has factory chrome hood doors.

To describe the color combinations and interiors as garish is an understatement.

They look like they were done by someone in the late 70’s early 80’s using what they thought elegant cars would have looked like originally.

Either that or they had Liberace do some design work for them.

It would take a pretty penny to bring those cars back to their former beauty and stature.

On the vanities I have for my car, the wiring for the cigar lighter uses the mounting clips as the electrical connections.

    Congratulations to the happy couple.

It’s great when people are brought together sharing a common passion.

    Great find.

I love those early brass part number tags.

I’m sure someone around here will have a parts book that will be able to cross reference that tag for you.

Just a word of caution about eBay.

I purchased a fuel pressure gauge set from a vendor and got emails saying the product was shipped and ultimately delivered.

Only problem was that I never received anything, at all.

Upon contacting eBay they contacted the seller who told eBay that they had confirmation it was delivered.

Ebay promptly closed my case and said there was nothing they could do for me since the vendor said it had been delivered.

I wanted to file a claim with the shipper but eBay wouldn’t even compel the vendor to give me any shipping account information nor would they help me to get the vendor to file a claim on my behalf.

The item was purchased through a regular business not a private party so they immediately sided with the business even though I have zero negative feedback after over a decade of purchases on eBay.

That was about a year ago and I have not purchased anything since through eBay.

I look forward to the day when the PAS will have a library of 3D printer files for all sorts of parts that can be printed at home as needed.

    One can dream.

Thanks for all the links, guys.

I have added all of them to my favorites.

Ralph, I thought I would be able to at least keep up with you but you eventually ran off and left us. :)

Once we were doing around 65 -70mph I decided to not push it any further, I still have an all original motor and I didn’t want to test its limits.

The Redmond meet will always be one of great memories for us as well.

You found a great car to get back on the road.

They are great performers on the road and they are beautiful.

I had trouble keeping up with Ralph M’s when we toured in Oregon.

Good luck with the project and please post lots of pictures of your progress.

I am anxiously looking forward to a picture of that end.

    Thanks Karl!
