in reply to: front floor mat for open cars, 1931, other years? #413438

Bottom outside dimension, to tips, is 39-3/4″. It was cut off on scan. The 1-1/2″ recess at the bottom is to wrap around the seat base front. Remember the reference lines top and bottom are just that, so that there’s a fixed point to measure to and from.

Any questions please email [email protected] , or you can call me at 540-5332885 and listen to me bore you to death. Ummm, I mean, discuss all great things automotive…

OK, back to the top, I finally removed the floor mat from my ’31 phaeton and started taking measurements. It looks simple but has a lot of details.

Here is picture of my mat, and a drawing of rough dimensions in the next post.

I already have one other person who wants a mat. If you’re interested, measure your car and see if this mat fits.

It has a lip on in all the way around that’s 7/8 inch wide. One option is to make this lip wider so it could be trimmed to fit other cars.

If you need me to make you a template, please email me and I’ll send you one.

    thanks David C.

Yes, I was on quite a few tours with the car in Texas, and it seemed to be his favorite. Owner passed away some time ago, kudos to his widow for not only keeping the cars and using them, but maintaining them well.

If I had the wherewithal I’d be after it, it’s a great car….

I haven’t received email, but I make it a rule to immediately delete and not reply.

Just as I’ve learned that if I’m silly enough to answer the phone, and someone unknown to me asks “Can you hear me?”, I never say “YES”, as they can record that and then use it as your verbal permission to charge a credit card or other mayhem to your checking account…..

If I remember correctly, the passenger side engine pan on a Model 43 also holds part of the air cleaner, so it missing would be a problem!

Nice, I’ve found those wrenches to be not only nice to look at, but very functional, for hubcaps et al….it’s a Crescent wrench in disguise!!

in reply to: 1931 Series 43 Hood Rest #407299

I had a friend mention to me that he uses the universal hot rod hood holders on a Pierce, see attached Ebay auction, but I’m sure they’re available through catalogs too.

Yes, sorry to miss meet and seeing everyone but just didn’t work out.

No, not that I’m aware of, there are no provisions on my phaeton for one, the hood just lays up….

Guess I’ll just go out to the garage, sit in my Pierce, and cry. Glad y’all are having a good time!

in reply to: Gold Plated 1918 Model 48 Coupe #413421

You can read all about it on this AACA thread. It states that it’s covered in gold leaf, not plated.

I recall over the years numerous articles about the car, so it’s not “unknown” by any means.

If you read the thread attached, you can get a timeline of the car’s existence.

It was metallic? I stand corrected and yield to Ed’s font of knowledge!

in reply to: Original Travelodge color #407152

My Model B appears to have original paint on it, and it’s more silver than anything, but not a shiny silver. A very light gray may work too, it’s a light color.

It goes without saying that it’s not a metallic paint, even though I just said it!

Sorry I can’t be of more help, I plan to go with a gray color, similar to the 1979 Citroen Deux Chevaux Charleston model, a two tone gray, using the lighter of the two grays…
