Here is one………not cheap…….I would expect to find a hand unit alone for 500 or less.

There was a rear microphone for sale on eBay for months……they come up fairly often.

in reply to: 1938 Car on Ebay #410066

The car has been out in thr weather for many, many years. I first saw it in Philadelphia eight years ago. There is NOTHING left of it, not a single thing. I looked it over twice, and the engine number on the block is so far gone it can not be read. It wasn’t worth 100 dollars……….it sold for just under 1100 bucks at the auction last week. The 1936 V-12 Sedan sold to Walter Miller of Auto Literature fame in Syracuse New York. The 34 is now at Cislak’s being cut up for parts. The fake speedster pile of XXXX sold for 25k, not really sure anyone would pay that for what it is…………Ed

Mr. Costa? Who is that? To get a Tres Montanhas to show up from California, the meet must be well done, and at below market prices!

in reply to: ’36 parts book #410042

I have seen, and own either originals or copies of books from 29,30,31,32 & 33. I haven’t seen a 34 or later parts book. Most are just numbers……..and only marginaly helpful. Greg Long showed me one for a series 80 or 81 and it had a bunch of drawings in it. They are interesting collectibles, but functionally useless for 99 percent of collectors.

in reply to: 36 at auction #409993

I was at the auction for about an hour…….right before the PA cars went through. The 38 Club Sedan was a joke, I would not take it for free…..we passed on it about 8 years ago. I value the car at zero.

The 36 V-12 looked like a 1960 repaint, and some so-so upholstery. Had new heads and water jackets on it……probably had an overheating issue. Looked like they were done 15 years ago. It’s a long way from driving…..probably 20K to get it reliable and on the road if you’re lucky. I valued it at 12K. I watched the high bidder buy it, an older gentleman……..if he was the final purchaser……I don’t know. For 35K that was a huge roll of the dice, as there is a much better V-12 offered by a club member for much less money right now.

The 34 was a very nice car years ago…..looks like a California car. Very solid. It will be going to parts if anyone needs anything, call Cislak.

The junk pile boat tail is so bad, that I won’t even bother. I valued it at 500 dollars. It was a late model Seagrave in an 8 chassis.

    End of report.

in reply to: Potential fix to K-S fuel gauge operation problems #409977

I have never had any luck with this system. Either on a Pierce, Rolls, Auburn, Duesenberg, or any other marque. We went through every one taking our time, ensuring tight connections, and while all worked for a while, every one, went from erratic readings, to non functioning. Now, with all the different cars, I expect that it isn’t me causing the problems, and while I have met people who say they work fine……..I’m not convinced they are working correctly for any length of time. Just the storm fronts/air pressure mass changing with the weather causes the Guage to go from full to empty, without any movement of the car, or change in the level of fuel. We used a car that has a correct reading every day, and after four days, it also was no longer working. I would like to see one read consistently for weeks on end while being driven. I am not convinced ti has ever happened.

They were already made back in the 70’s. There were a few around twenty years ago I would advertise looking for one before I made one.

in reply to: Three Pierce Arrows at the San Marino Motor Classic #409961

It was a very nice show……450 cars, about 80 were pre war. Must have been about 30 or 40 CCCA type cars. Lots of Cadillacs and Packards, Well worth your time if you can attend. Leno drove up in a Duesenberg from his shop unexpectedly, and mingled with the rest of the crowd.

Looks like Holbrook coachwork to me………but just a guess. Definitely a BIG dollar car when new.

That is one rare book……..I looked for years just for the regular one…..didn’t even think a supplement would ever be found. Should have my old 1933 1247 LeBaron EDL in it.

Dave…….someday I will have to show you some other stuff……….still have a few sleepers that no one has ever seen.

in reply to: 1932 model 54 value #409927

Ryan……..Everyone calls me Ed, or some other words not fit to print here in public!

in reply to: 1932 model 54 value #413710

No snap rings on a 32! They are “drop Center” wheels, much easier to deal with. Michelin makes great tubes, just bought 6 of them at 55 dollars each, do NOT use the 7 or 12 dollar tubes. You need tubes with an off set stem. Ask Greg which ones he uses, its been ten years since I have done a 32 18 inch tire. Feel free to email or call me anytime. I have owned three 1932 series 54 cars and put thousands of miles on them. Your lucky to be near a great bunch of PAS people who are helpful. Greg is a great guy, and highly skilled. You won’t be on this great adventure alone….unless you choose to be. You are going to ask yourself what took me so long to buy a Pierce!

    Try Greg Long….Mr. Series 80/81.

in reply to: Lithograph Duplex oil cans #409917

Sorry! Just having fun………I’ll remove it.

in reply to: Lithograph Duplex oil cans #409911

Price on the small square cans can run up to 1500 each……condition is everything. As for my perfect five gallon can……..I refused a huge number for it……….I was told it was a world record price for the size and type of can. Someday it will belong to the PAS Foundation, along with a bunch of other stuff……….they can put it on top of the ice box I have on display.

in reply to: split rim tool wanted #409904

My guess is you need the truck tool, as the car ones will be small. You may want to keep measurements of your rim in your wallet. Hershey has them for sale often……….

in reply to: Unknow photo #409903

Body tag is clear in the photo, maybe it can be enlarged.

in reply to: Requesting clarification of wheel terminology #409899

Sorry, I can’t fix the typos. From my phone….buttons are too small and the screen is too small to see what I am typing.
