We made a new contact with a custom gear shop that has an extensive background in low production racing transmissions and gear sets. They built us a special application trans, it had issues but they stood behind their work and were intrested in helping us get it right. The young owner not only likes Pierce Arrow’s but he was familiar with the R-1 overdrive and having never seen one is coming to the shop to see one all apart. When he gets to the shop we will show him the Bray sets I have on the shelf. He offered to make sets for us……we didn’t have to ask. They do very nice work, I have seen their replacment gears and they are very well done. As to what ratio and application, we will wait for feedback and demand to figure that out. I’m not sure if there will be enough demand to make any more sets. We will post a ad in the PAS when we get it figured out. Anyone intrested just drop John or me an email. Ed.
We just made contact with a company this week for having some sets made. We should have an answer in a few weeks. The owner of the gear company is a pre war car owner and is intrested in Pierce Arrows, he has a few Classics. Ed.
I got a back room update. They are getting their stuff in order, friend of mine has a beta set. He likes them. Looks like they will be available around Hershey……maybe.
Looks like a 90 day delay. I can do without them just around town, but they are a great safety device for long trips. They will have the stop lamps wired into them by September. The upgrade kit will be available for earlier modles. You get flashers, turn signals, and stop lights. These are going to be popular. I’m going to make brackets to put them on the bumper spring bars. They will not damage the paint and I can just rotate them out of the way when I don’t want to use them.
Try this link…sorry.
This is a Greg Long question. I am sure he will answer when he checks in.
Mine is on the left in my series 54.
Thanks Merlin! It was great to see you and Jane at the meet. See you next month in Kalamazoo!
Hi Rich, yes I spoke to himm and he doesn’t have a spare carb. The one I saw on his shelf was for a project Pierce car I didn’t know he had. This may sound like a crazy lead, but there are still lots of PA WW1 trucks in england, and there is an active military web site with ww1 truck guys who are very helpfull with parts on the early trucks, maybe you should try them. I don’t remember the web site name, but if you google it you will find it. If you can’t locate it let me know. Good luck, Ed
It’s a 29 motor modified to use in a boat. Stude head…..interesting. You think the boat would have sank with that much iron in it!
It will be on display at the PAS meet in Rhode Island next week. Get a drink out of it on the show field. Ed
