Bill, 40 over on the engine is about max. If you have severe pitting in the casting you may get a leak or hole in the bore. I have seen this several times. Be sure to sand blast the block to inspect for this condition. John just did a do over motor for a customer that was done in another shop and it was leaking coolent due to severe pitting. Ed
Remember Series 42 Has the 6 lug 18 inch wheels! The wells are bigger than most PA’s. Ed
Last one.
Another shot.
Yes, I bought one. They are great for a 10 dollar watch. Got here in less than 5 days. Stainless was not polished well but fine for what it is. Band is a little small for me. Ed
Thank you John. Ed
I agree softer seems better. What is also important is that you get 100 percent contact, difficult to do without a Barrett Brake Doktor. I send my brakes out to a local truck firm and have not had any problems over the years. Ed
Sorry for the delay in answering. Mom has been quite sick all week. It’s John’s car. He always wanted a 33 CB. It’s a Salon Eight. Body tag 236 B2 183 . It has wire wheels and the salon light. I’m sure it must have had 33 style side mount covers but they are missing. It had 36 V-12 covers on it that are going on another project. It’s all there but the motor is partially apart. John has a rebuilt 33 eight on the shelf and I’m trying to get him to toss it in for now so he can drive it. I think it’s going to be his retirement project. He is still working on his 30 Model A EDL that was cut into a pick up in the late 30’s and used in Rochester, NY, till the mid fifties. So he is going to finish that project first. I’ll post some more photos next week as the car is buried in the shop already. John is taking my 32 coupe to the Gathering this year. Sadly, I can’t make it this time. Ed
I would say no and no. Ed
Hi Richard, no luck on the parts you need. Place an ad in the emporium, as there are several parts cars around. Ed
I’ll take five good used caps for the big distributor for 500 if any one has them, last time I saw one sell it was for three times that. Ed
No, moth eaten and a few rips, but not too bad. Headliner was the worst issue. Has nice spoke wheels and the salon light. Dash is perfect. Just need head light lenses and a radio to finish it. Ed
Sold new to the Mayor of Berkely California, it has been sleeping in a garage since the mid 50’s. 1933 Salon series. No rust, perfect wood. 99.9 percent complete. Enjoy the photos, at least we didn’t come home empty! The car is now in John’s garage. It’s a keeper. An unknown car that’s never been in the roster…. I’ll send the numbers to Bernie.
Thanks for the update Bob, I knew from the text things were off the mark. Are there any engine photos of the 34 car? I’m interested to know what they ran for carbs and manifolds. I thought the modern gauges were way out of place also. All that work , why not use correct era stuff? Hope to see you get yours back on the front burner. Ed

John Cislak makes them, send me an email for which year and series car and I will be sure to bring them to the meet for you to look at. His are die cut and very nice, they run 15 or 20 each. We leave in 12 hours……Ed
Just keep inserting 100 dollar bills in the motor…… it will fix all the problems. Only problem is it’s a large engine! I am sure Bill will have it running again soon. Ed
65 POUNDS……work your way up from 20 to 50 to 65. heat cycle the motor several times and check them when cold each time… the gaskets will compress
As to value….. if the car was a twelve and now has a Seagrave motor in it….. I would think 15 to 20 percent as far as a price issue on a closed car, 33 percent or more if open. If it was an eight to twelve swap…. it’s anybody’s guess. The above does not include the cost of making all incorrect parts and components back to factory condition. Ed
