These mats will also fit EDL cars of from ’29 – ’31 as I had one made for mine.
My original mat had a few, very, very minor differences but you would really, really have to look to see them.
The mat that David had done is so nice I wanted to put it in a clear case and hang it on the wall rather than put it in the car to be stepped on!
How big are the headlamps on the Series 80 and 81 cars?
This one sure looks similar.
If the carb bowl is filling with gas it sounds like you have a leaky float needle or you have a mechanical fuel pump that is pushing too much pressure and overwhelming the needle.
By the way, our ’29 was built Nov of ’29 so it most likely wears ’30 colors.
Here is the blue/black color combo on our ’29.
That link skips 1930.
Is there a reason for that?
I have not had the chance to measure the mat in my ED Limo.
Going to make some time for this today or tomorrow.
Thanks for taking this on, Dave.
Dave, can you send me an email with the dimensions and exact details so I can see if it would fit in my EDL?
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your very thorough research.
That looks like a great piece.
I have no idea if it is an original piece or not but it sure looks great.
That new chain looks so much better.
Will you have to drop the oil pan to properly seal the timing cover and oil pan?
I renewed my dues earlier using the method outlined above.
Worked like a charm.
Wouldn’t Oivind Grimsmo hold the undisputed record for worst car to ever be resurrected?
His ’30 was really, really bad.
I thought John Cislack has some of those discs.
You might want to contact hims and see.
I don’t know about other late teens Pierce Arrows, but Ralph McKittrick’s car can really scoot.
During the Oregon meet we could keep up with him around town or in traffic but once we hit open road he was gone.
It was a majestic sight to see that beautiful red Pierce just thundering down the road.
I am extremely sorry to hear about Ernie’s passing.
As stated, he was a very generous and welcoming man, always eager to share his love of cars and his Pierce Arrows with everyone.
Ernie allowed us to store our ’29 at his place overnight when we had engine ignition troubles on a tour during the 2006 meet.
When we asked if we could leave our car overnight and pick it up in the morning, he said with a sly smile, ‘Sure, I’m sure there a few ’29 parts I could manage to grab overnight’.
My thoughts go out to his family and to his close friends in the So Cal PAS Region.
He will be sorely missed.
One of our mascots has a chain to keep someone from just walking away with it but I still never let the car out of my sight when I am stopped somewhere.
Didn’t someone steal a mascot off a car on one of the tours during a PAS Meet?
Pulled up on a motorcycle, swiped it and rode off?
Wow. Amazing that someone would have the guts to steal a mascot right out in front of everyone.
Not only has it been for sale a number of times it does not look like anything has changed during the multiple times it’s been for sale.
Dave’s ’22 Pierce would be a great one to own.
He had some very nice cars and did a tremendous amount of work for the PAS and the old car hobby in general.
He will be sorely missed.
