  • The rest of the story….. a PAS member decided he would like to save this trailer and contacted me two weeks ago. Using Google earth satellite photos I was able to figure out where it was and the address of the trailer. The member went out to see it and try to make contact with the owner. It turns out the trailer in the desert in Nevada is owned by a gentleman in Hawaii! Interestingly enough, the trailer was severely damaged between the time I took the photos at the PAS meet and when the member went to look at it last week. The owner was asking about 20 times it current value BEFORE the damage. Thus it seems it will sit out and crumble where it lies and probably will not be save. Another sad end to a Pierce Arrow product that could have been saved. Ed

Bill, what was your choice of pistons? What did you do for cam bearings? Hope you enjoyed your trip! Ed

Wednesday day was great, and Thursday until 2 was also not too bad. Then the big rain started and never let up. Friday was a washout. Interestingly, many of the vendors said it was their “worst year ever”” for selling….. and I would agree the rain really put a downer on both foot traffic and sales. But on the bright side we found more Pierce stuff this year than the last 3 years combined. Ed”

The whole place was like a time warp. There were wild horses in the open range about 300 yards away. Ed

The inside was intact and very nice. It’s hard to believe we drove past a Pierce Arrow in the desert while on a day trip during the annual meet and no one else saw this in the bushes. The yard looked like the movie set from Deliverance where the kid with the banjo was playing. John refused to get out of the truck to take a look as it sure was remote and posted as No TRESSPASSING.

    Last one.

    Another.

    Another shot.

Bob Sands made them years ago, you could try him. Ed

It’s a reproduction. If it were real the price would be in the seven figures very easy. The only change I would make to the car is install vintage guages. Ed

Correction, here is the pre sale estimate from the Hemmings article.

Later this month, it will head to the Worldwide Auctioneers sale in Auburn, Indiana, with a pre-auction estimate of $350,000 to $450,000

It can not be removed. Do not damage it. Just remove the tank from the car and support it as not to damage it. If you want to remove it you will have to weld it back on to the tank, not an easy job. Tanks are no longer being reproduced, you will have to cut it open and blast it then close it up. Most chemicial cleaners and sealer will fail, the rust be removed, not covered over. Ed

From what I saw that is strong money for the car. Maybe the new owner will join the PAS. Thanks for the update on the auction. Ed

Greg, The car is still buried in the back of the shop. John won’t have any photos at the meet. It has a very interesting upholstery type, I have never seen it before. I’ll get some photos posted in the next week or so. The headliner in the CB is torn out from the wind along with the center top. All the rest of the upholstery is decent for patters and is all there. The car looks like it was a light tan or “sand” color. The interior is a little darker color and is unique in color and type from any other PA I have seen. John will have the 32 at the meet. Be sure to take it for a spin, it’s running even better. (Thanks for the kind words!) The 32 needs a front seat replacement, the rumble seat is fine. I’m planning to remove the rear seat from my car and the front from another car to make a set. I’ll keep the new front seat, and my friend will keep the rear for his car as it is missing. So if anybody needs a 31-32 Front seat or rumble seat, speak up soon and get in on the project. I don’t have a photo of the correct covers yet, but I will post them if I can come up with them. If any member has a set on their car, please take a few photos and post them here. I wish more members would post photos of car projects and upgrades as the membership likes to see what other people are doing in their garage. Ed

PS Use Aries or Ross pistons, NOT EGGE. Also, use a modern ring package and you will never burn oil again. My 36 uses no oil at all. Ed
