They have been made in the past. I had the pattern about 5 years ago. If I still have it and can find it I will let you know. Ed

They have been done in the past, John Cislak had a set of new castings on the table at Hershey, not sure what year they fit. Give him a call 413-543-9017

in reply to: fabric connectors between generator/water pump #397891

Yes, John has them die cut. His number is 413-543-9017 or email him at [email protected] He had them in stock at Hershey so I am sure he still has them. I can’t remember but they are 15 or 20 dollars each.

Jak……neat filter setup. It’s almost impossible to get all the cruf out unless you pull the motor. How about photos of the entire car? Ed.

EE-3 carbs don’t fail like the earlier carbs. You can glass bead it with no issues. Just don’t over do it.

Richard, one of the most interesting things about Pierce Arrow cars are the running changes they mad each year. 1929 had more changes and updates than all the other years…….so a 1929 can be a bit of a challenge. Don’t use modern hardware with grade markings. Get the engine paint in the correct color…..I have seen three different colors over the years and they all looked factory to me! Most important, take your time to get the details right. It would be a big help if you went to visit several other 29 touring cars and take lots of photos…….if you have several cars to compare to it makes things much easier to define correct or incorrect. Often times there is no perfect answer, so then you go with what you think is right for your car. A Pierce D/C is a rare car….. it deserves to be done right. I won’t even mention color choice….:-)

Car looks like it is good and solid. Richard, be sure to have the right people restoring the car. People who have done post war cars often don’t understand the early cars. To most Pierce collectors cars with wrong hardware, incorrect paint or plating, non authentic and over restoration can cause resale issues in the future. Find a 29 expert to help with the details. Keep posting the photos.

in reply to: metalic paint #412496

I have photos and factory paint chips of a silver metallic used in 1931 on a touring car. I also have a chunk of door panel from a 31 with the same paint on it. The factory called it platinum. It was very fine metallic silver and the chips still look as new. The paint on the car turned an almost dark brown over the years, I don’t think the paint was very stable. The chips show the paint was not very even in the amount of flake in it. Thus up close the finish would be called uneven. Compared to what we have today you could call the old stuff “flat” with a semi sheen. I think it wasn’t popular because other basic paints were easier to deal with, finish, and ended up giving much better service. It looks like the Estes model silver paint we used in the 70’s building plastic car and airplane models. I think very fine metallic paints look ok on certain cars in subtle colors. My 36 V-12 is quite bright non metallic…… it offends some. I like it still after more than 24 years. To each his own. Just one more thought……color can affect resale value, both positive and negative.

Just when you think you have seen everything! Very cool…….

in reply to: Chrome ,chrome and more chrome #397714

Good chrome……for a 29 D/C 30 grand to 45 depending on condition of the car. OK chrome 22 to 30 grand. 10k is a non starter.

I think Bob Dluhy has new Steel Craft stickers made when he did his car. I understand and agree about storage space. It’s just that I hate to make my car less attractive.

in reply to: Paint Related Questions #397700

I vote for NO trunk. I know you didn’t ask……. I like the looks of your car with clean lines. I know they are handy…… my coupe has a trunk that came on it when I bought it, I don’t like the look of it either, but I know if I remove it I will NEVER install it again. My best….Ed

Clocks are missing as the boy scouts had a project where you took the clock and put it into a wooden holder for a fathers day project / gift. Thats why you see so many clocks for sale.
