John Cislak has a bunch of used pistons, give him a call.

Robert, that is why I recommended inserting an exhaust probe in the radiator to check for exhaust gases. I must admit I thought it would be a lower house issue or restricted radiator before the combustion gas pushing past the head gasket. Interesting it was only a one way leak. Now on to the next issue! One step at a time, you will get it to 100 percent. Drive on……..Ed

It comes out from the inside. I have owned both a 35 and 36 club sedan, they both remove from the inside. The 34 club sedan John Cislak sold last year was the same also.

in reply to: Oil Line fittings #399561

Modern fittings will knock off points every time during judging. Incorrect oil lines, fittings, and oil filters are incorrect more often than not today. It takes a lot of time and a fair amount of money to get all the lines correct. Ed.

I remember going over this car very clearly with Stu. I formed opinions on the car and it’s value at the time . I do not know who owns a car currently . I will reserve comment to PAS members directly on the telephone . If anyone is seriously interested give me a call and I’ll tell you what I remember . As always I recommend anybody buying a Pierce Arrow have somebody well-versed in the particular year car your are interested in assist you.. My best, Ed.

Robert…….remember……drive it like you stole it!

in reply to: steering stabilizer #399528

35 PSI is rather low and could be unsafe with a snap ring style wheel. Every Pierce I own the front tires are at 45PSI. Soft tires will make heat, causing tube and tire failure. Just my 2 cents.

Another 100K and it will be finished!

in reply to: 1910 Pierce 4 cylinder motorcycle on eBay #399509

I am told, and have seen entire Pierce 4 motorcycles that are manufactured today and available now. Just add engine……. I have no idea if this unit posted is correct or not. BUT as I have posted in the past one must be careful about open cars, that goes 100 times more for Pierce motorcycles.

in reply to: Dismantled Oil Cooler-FYI #399508

I have seen a cooler failure where a seem split and the oil and water mixed in the crank case. I can’t remember if it was a factory oil line, pressure regulator, and oil filter set up. Maybe it was due to modifications of the system? Or did the oil drain back and let the water into the lower end when parked for a long length of time. There are two style oil cooler cores. Honeycomb and fluted. If the amount of water / coolent in the lower end is a small, the engine operating temperature will boil it off without much problem. I think all agree with modern oil the cooler is not necessary. And can only turn into a problem down the road. It sure will make a mess of your cooling system, and if you push the oil and water out the over flow, it will take weeks to clean the car up.

Dont run it. It WILL fail and wipe out your main bearings. Cislak makes a bolt on bypass kit…….not sure if he still has any in stock. I have seen them fail by often, I tried to run one on my car and I gave up after 4 failures in less than one year.

in reply to: drive shaft U-joints #399496

Cislak’s joints will fit the shaft……the other does not. Also, he uses a heavy duty USA made joint from a one ton truck, not one off a S10 Chevy. You get what you pay for. Ed

in reply to: McPherson College 1930 Model B chassis/frame verifcation #399473

Six lug wheels were only used on 1931 cars. Are you sure it’s a Pierce? Could be Stude as PA didn’t make a 134 in 1931.

in reply to: Identification, info, history needed #399409

There is an identical car in green, all factory paint and upholstery that I looked at about 10 years ago. I wasn’t smart enough to buy it then. It was a 38 hp if I remember correctly. They are great cars, lots of fun. I like the top style the car has, most collectors do not care for them. Be sure to properly sort the car before you start it or drive it. Hope to see you at a future meet. Good luck!

To clean the oil galleries just remove the plugs and run a brush through them. I have no issues sand blasting a block as long as you spend the ten hours to clean it correctly. It’s hard work.
