Post photos, the mainfold made by stone has been used on many, many cars. They require machine work to fit them to the intake manifold, and while not difficult you need special equipment. My guess is that who ever is installing it does not have the skills required, as I have never heard any issues with the Stone manifold. PAS member John Cislak has installed several new manifolds over the past few years, one on my car last summer. Give him a call, he can give you some help. Take your time and do it right, it should work out ok. Ed

Spent a half hour on the phone with Joe, he is a great guy and got a very nice car. Drive it Joe! Ed

Gentlemen, the Napa points ARE NOT CORRECT, and the points angle is wrong and the dwell cannot be adjusted to spec. If you are not setting the distributor up on a Sun distributor machine, you won’t get them correct. The incorrect points arc, and cause hard starting due to the dwell issue. I have helped out more than 5 members this year who’s problem all came down to incorrect points. Plenty of suppliers have correct parts, why not buy the right ones? I just don’t understand why people have to use a “cut and fit incorrect part” when correct parts are easily available, and will work correctly. Ask any club member who DRIVES his car, trying to save 10 bucks and installing wrong parts is FOLLY. It would not surprise me that the Napa parts cost more than the correct ones. Ed Minnie

Hi. I know the car, and who restored it, and the story behind it from the 1940’s. It’s a great car. Ed

ANY woman who drives a 1935 Pierce V-12 convertible IS HOT. Look at thoes big headlights, curvy fendars and wonderful bumpers……. and hey…. there a chick there too! Ed

in reply to: So how much is it worth?.. #395531

Whenever I sell a Pierce I always ask myself how much would I have to spend to replace a duplicate of it in a relatively short period of time. To buy a good driver that is turnkey is VERY difficult today. The other thing I think about when someone makes me an offer on my car is would that amount of money get me into a better, more desirable, or more enjoyable car. Most of the time the answer is no, thus I don’t turn over my Pierce cars too often. Having owned quite a few early big cars from the 30’s , I can honestly say I always regret it when a good solid car leaves the garage, they are just too dam hard to find. PS A special note to Ernie Follis…… I STILL miss my 33 EDL!

Syd, they are not too difficult. Just take your time and be sure not to break anything. You must remove ALL the brass plugs in the ENTIRE carb so you can clean everything well. Ed

Robert, There were two type of lenses used in 29, McKeelight, and Twolight. Which does your car have? I may have some springs for your latch here, as I replaced two on my 33 PA and bought several extra, and now the car is gone so I don’t need them. Send me an email with a photo and I will let you know if the one I have is correct. Ed

in reply to: Numbers stamped on rear axel #395477

My best guess is it is the casting part number. All Pierce factory part numbers start with the number 7 as far as I know. How about posting a few photos of your car here, as we all like to see new projects as the members are working on them. Ed

in reply to: Delco starters #395470

I don’t have a Delco book either, maybe some one will post all the generator and starter applications for the 29 to 38 cars if they have it. For some reason I don’t think there was any diffrence in the starters in 30 or 31, but I am not sure. Ed

in reply to: Fuel pump for my 1930 Model B #395466

The upper body of the Stewart pump is available with a rebuild kit for 500 from a Stutz guy, you need the arm and lower body to be good or this kit will not help you out. A/c pumps are available, but the arm is the difficult part as I think they are diffrent than the S-W arm. Contact John Cislak as he has NOS and used A/C pumps available, for less than the upper body and rebuild kit. His number is 413-543-9017. Good luck. ED
