Bob, out of curiosity, did the Egge pistons have steel inserts for strength like the originals, or were they the replacement style that included lots of extra material around the wrist pin boss to add strength?

Bill, I believe they recently sold that car for $8500. Charley had pictures on his site, the V-12 engine looked complete.

    Nice story.

Bob, my approach to dealing with the engine rust is sound.

You would advise using another media for the blasting exercise. I’m certain Bill appreciates both of our feedback.

Bill, if you’re goal is to remove surface rust from the block, an inexpensive but effective way is to buy a $25 suction feed sand blaster as found at Tractor Supply and use sandbox play sand from Lowes or similar supply house. Last time I bought 50lbs it was $3.

You may use 150lbs, but it works fine outdoors. Might want to but a sandblast hood from Eastwood too. Follow it up with self etching paint on the exterior or WB40/SAE30 inside the crankcase.

    Best of Luck-John

David, that was fun to see on the field at Hershey.

It’s amazing it went on it’s own.

    Thanks for sharing.

Adjusting tappet/valve clearance every 6-8K mi would not have an appeal to me…

Bob, you’re right, we live very close. Ha, ha-I think my vision is okay, but I do wish you a successful eye surgery today and speedy recovery.

I concur with the above: Ed & John are great guys and tremendous assets to the club-they are ‘show quality’ on the inside where it counts!

Edward, welcome to the PAS! and thanks for posting the picture of your car. I think artillery wheels like yours in their last few years of production are really nice.
