Okay Peter, I’ll bite. Left (passenger side).
I agree, not an impressive difference.

I presume this is the photo Ed is talking about.

And I’m still smiling!
In Maryland, they recently changed the rules for historic vehicle 60 years or older. One can now obtain a one-time, permanent, non-transferable registration (a black sticker for the plate). In addition, they only give you one plate for the car.

Ed,
Based on what Greg just wrote, I was curious about the modern reproduction units that use modern spin on oil filter inside. Do these modern reproductions have some sort of flow restriction since they use a modern full-flow oil filter?
Robert
I also remember seeing it in Kerrville in front of the hotel ready to depart on a tour.
Robert
Alan,
Do you know who took over the gear business and anything (good or bad) about what is being made now?
Robert
Wow, that is the second Stanhope I have “seen” in a week. I got a close up look at a 1903 Stanhope of another PAS member at the Rockville, Maryland car show last weekend. Neat car. Enjoy.
Robert
Ed, What is “modern special fuel””?
Robert”
Dear Don,
It was great riding with you in David White’s car at the Rohnert Park meet. Congratulations on the purchase. I wish you many happy motoring miles!
Robert
Ken, I love using hand signals when driving my Pierce. A few times I have forgotten I am in one of my “more modern”” collector cars or even my daily driver and try and stick my hand out the closed window and bang my elbow or forearm! LOL.
Robert”
I cannot agree more with all the comments above. The more you drive it, the more comfortable you are with it, the more you drive it! A great circular reinforcement.
Since I like it when some of these discussions meander off topic (as they frequently do), Bob Coates suggestion is an interesting one. There have been many good discussions on the AACA forum regarding seat belts in pre-war cars. There are good points on both sides whether to add seat belts or not and where to safely anchor the seat belts on a car with a wood body on a steel frame.
In all pre-war car, the only safety feature is your brain!
I think Curtiss’s suggest was spot on, find places or times with very low density of cars and enjoy the drive.
Robert
Beautiful car. Drive it and enjoy it!
Robert
Dear David,
I don’t know how I found this site, anything about them, or if then still even exist, but here you go (i hope it is helpful):
Welcome to the PAS and good luck,
Robert
Scott,
Seems to be up and working now. I just logged on. Also the car on the top of the list for sale is a Pierce Arrow!
I use a MAC and Safari for browsing.
Robert
George, or maybe he would prefer to be called an ADVENTURER! (Hahaha)
Robert
Dear Stuart,
Thank you for all the work and posting the information about the Firestone tubes on the PAS forum. I am willing to call GCR tire and order a set of 10 (minimum), but I would like to hear your opinion after you mount them and tell us how good or bad they are before purchasing. Thank you in advance for being the guinea-pig and the first to trial them.
Sincerely,
Robert
For those of you who went to the Charles Schultz museum, the docent mentioned that if any question could not be immediately answered, just fill out the question on one of their post cards and they will get you the answer and mail the card back to you. Well, I am always asking questions, and I finally got to one our docent did not know. Since Charles Schultz was such an avid hockey player (and built an ice rink on his property so he could play anytime) I was wondering what position he played (see post card for the answer).

Last year I spoke to a company (Bratten’s) that sells a large amount of Ford (models A and T) parts regarding tubes. Knowing the tubes they sell are too small for our tires and wheels, I just wanted to get some information from them. It turns out they have their tubes custom made to their specifications. Clearly one needs to purchase a large quantity (thousands). Considering the high percentage of failures of current tubes and the fact that driving our cars is a major part of our Society, would having tubes made to our specifications be another item the Pierce Society would consider undertaking? We might be able to sell some of the allotment to other clubs or to other CCCA members. Just a thought.

“I only recommended people buy a car at the rate of one in ten…..or less.”
Ed, I’m two for two with you! (and very lucky
